When did Powerball start in the UK?

Powerball ticket sales through The National Lottery began on 21 July 2026. UK players could enter the US Powerball drawing held on Wednesday 22 July, which appeared on the UK clock in the early hours of Thursday 23 July 2026.

The UK joined the existing Powerball draw — it did not create a separate drawing.

UK entries use the same winning numbers and contribute to the shared Powerball jackpot, while the UK has its own lower-tier prize structure.

Why do some websites say Monday, Wednesday and Saturday?

Those are the official American draw days. Powerball is drawn at 10:59pm Eastern Time in Tallahassee, Florida. By then, the UK has already passed midnight, so the calendar date in Britain is normally the following morning.

American schedule

Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59pm Eastern Time. This is the date and time used by the official US Powerball draw.

British schedule

Normally Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at approximately 3:59am. This is the same draw viewed on the UK clock.

There are not two separate draws.

UK and US tickets use the same winning numbers and compete for the same shared jackpot. Only the local date and time display changes.

Why can the UK draw time temporarily change?

For most of the year, the east coast of America and the UK are five hours apart, so 10:59pm in Florida becomes 3:59am in Britain. The countries do not always begin and end daylight-saving time on the same dates.

What happens during the clock-change gap?

For a short period in spring and again in autumn, the time difference can narrow to four hours. During those weeks, Florida’s 10:59pm draw can appear at approximately 2:59am in the UK.

Does the ticket cutoff also move?

The published UK entry deadline remains 11:55pm on the night before the draw. The changing item is the UK conversion of the fixed Florida draw time.

How does the countdown handle this?

The live countdown converts 10:59pm in the America/New_York time zone into Europe/London time for the specific drawing date. It therefore reflects the temporary clock difference automatically.
