Fixed-prize game

What Happens If Nobody Wins £500,000?

Nothing rolls over. Thunderball’s standard top prize stays at £500,000 for the next draw rather than growing because the previous draw had no 5 + Thunderball winner.

The £500,000 does not carry forward

Thunderball is a fixed-prize game. If no ticket matches all five main numbers plus the Thunderball, the next scheduled draw still offers the standard £500,000 top prize.

Multiple winners do not normally split £500,000

The National Lottery describes the Thunderball top prize as not shared. Under the normal prize structure, each qualifying top-prize winning ticket receives £500,000 rather than dividing one £500,000 pot.

National Lottery terms state that in exceptional circumstances certain Thunderball prizes can be less than stated. The dedicated Thunderball prizes & odds guide explains the published prize-capping caveat in more detail.
How to read this page

Winning Numbers and Winner Counts Do Not Always Arrive Together

Immediately after a draw there can be a short period where the numbers are known but the complete distribution of winning tickets and prize money is not yet available to MLL.

Stage 1: draw completed

The five main numbers and Thunderball can appear first. At this point MLL can show the newest result, but it should not claim how many £500,000 winners there were until that winner count belongs to the same draw.

Stage 2: prize breakdown confirmed

Once the winner breakdown for that same draw is present, the page can answer “did anyone win?” and populate all nine tiers, the total number of winning tickets, prize fund, draw machine and ball set where supplied.

Frequently asked questions

Thunderball Winners Tonight FAQs

Did anyone win Thunderball tonight?
On a Thunderball draw night, the latest winner status appears at the top of this page once MLL has the winner breakdown for tonight’s completed draw. Before the draw, or while the breakdown is still updating, the page says so rather than presenting an older winner count as tonight’s result.
How many £500,000 Thunderball winners were there?
The latest confirmed count appears at the top of this page and in the full prize table. A top-prize winner must match all five main numbers plus the Thunderball.
Is the £500,000 Thunderball prize shared?
Under the normal fixed-prize structure, no. The National Lottery describes the Thunderball top prize as not shared, so multiple qualifying winning tickets can each receive the standard £500,000 prize. Exceptional prize-capping rules still apply.
What happens if nobody wins the Thunderball top prize?
The £500,000 does not roll over. Thunderball uses fixed prizes, so the next draw continues with the standard £500,000 top prize.
How many Thunderball prize tiers are there?
There are nine standard winning categories, from matching only the Thunderball for £3 through to matching all five main numbers plus the Thunderball for £500,000.
Why can the winning numbers appear before the winner count?
The number result and complete prize distribution are separate pieces of post-draw information. MLL can therefore receive the latest winning numbers before the full winner breakdown for the same draw is available.
How much was paid out in the latest Thunderball draw?
When the full breakdown is available, the latest total prize fund appears in the summary strip above the prize table. It represents the published prize money across the winner tiers for that draw.
What time is Thunderball drawn?
The current schedule used by this page is 8:00pm UK time on Tuesday and Friday and 8:15pm on Wednesday and Saturday.
Where can I check the latest Thunderball winning numbers?
Use the Thunderball results page for the latest numbers and the tap-to-check number comparison tool.
Are MLL winner counts official?
MLL is an independent information site. This page shows the latest winner and prize data available to MLL and links to The National Lottery so a result or potential prize can be verified with the operator.
