How Double Play works

Play your Powerball numbers again in a second drawing

Double Play does not ask you to choose another set of numbers. If it is available where you buy your ticket, the same five white numbers and red Powerball are entered into a separate Double Play drawing.

1

Choose your Powerball numbers

Play a normal Powerball line by choosing five white numbers from 1–69 and one red Powerball from 1–26, or use Quick Pick.

2

Add Double Play for $1

Where the feature is offered, add Double Play before the draw. Your original Powerball numbers become your Double Play numbers too.

3

Check both drawings

The main Powerball drawing takes place first. Double Play is then drawn separately, so the same ticket can potentially win in either drawing.

Double Play vs Power Play

You can have both features on the same Powerball ticket where Double Play is offered, but they do different things.

Power Play

Multiplies eligible main-draw prizes

Power Play costs an extra $1 in most jurisdictions and uses a 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or sometimes 10X multiplier. It does not create another set of winning numbers.

Double Play

Creates a separate second drawing

Double Play costs an extra $1 where offered and uses your same selected numbers in another drawing with its own nine cash prizes and a $10 million top prize.

Power Play does not multiply Double Play prizes

Even if your ticket includes both add-ons, the Power Play multiplier applies only to eligible prizes from the main Powerball drawing. Double Play uses its own fixed prize chart.
