The Health Lottery Big Win odds
A Big Win line costs £1 and uses five numbers from 1 to 50. The regular top prize is £25,000 for matching all five numbers. The official overall chance of receiving any Big Win prize is 1 in 9.7, but that figure includes two prize tiers that award a free ticket rather than cash.
The two easiest Big Win prize tiers — Match 2 and Match 1 + Bonus Ball — pay a free ticket. Using the current published prize structure, My Lottery Life calculates the chance of a cash-paying Big Win result at roughly 1 in 108.2. That is a more useful figure if you specifically want to know the chance of getting money back.
Health Lottery prizes and odds
These are the current Big Win prize tiers published by The Health Lottery. The Bonus Ball matters at several lower levels, so two tickets with the same number of main matches can win very different prizes.
| Match | Prize | Published odds | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 main numbers | £25,000* | 1 in 2,118,760 | Regular Big Win top prize. |
| 4 + Bonus Ball | £10,000 | 1 in 423,752 | The Bonus Ball makes a very large difference at Match 4. |
| 4 main numbers | £300 | 1 in 9,631 | Four mains without the Bonus Ball. |
| 3 + Bonus Ball | £50 | 1 in 4,815 | Three mains plus the separate Bonus Ball. |
| 3 main numbers | £10 | 1 in 224 | Cash prize without the Bonus Ball. |
| 2 + Bonus Ball | £5 | 1 in 224 | The lowest cash-paying tier. |
| 2 main numbers | Free ticket | 1 in 16 | No cash; a future Big Win entry. |
| 1 + Bonus Ball | Free ticket | 1 in 32 | No cash; a future Big Win entry. |
*Match 5: £25,000 is the top-prize pool for the draw. If more than one ticket matches all five main numbers, the prize is divided between the Match 5 winners. Published odds are rounded by The Health Lottery where shown.
1 in 9.7 for any prize — but about 1 in 108 for cash
The headline 1-in-9.7 figure is correct for receiving any prize under the current Big Win structure. Most of that probability comes from the two free-ticket tiers. If those are removed and only the six cash-paying tiers are counted, the chance is much lower.
About a 10.3% chance of receiving a prize. This includes the Match 2 and Match 1 + Bonus free-ticket outcomes.
About a 0.92% chance of a cash-paying Big Win tier, calculated from the current 5-from-50 and Bonus Ball prize structure.
The Health Lottery publishes the odds for each individual prize tier and the overall “any prize” figure. It does not currently headline a combined cash-only figure. MLL calculated the cash-only probability from the exact game structure rather than adding rounded odds together.
What does my Big Win match pay?
Choose how many of the five main winning numbers you matched, then tell us whether you also matched the Bonus Ball. This is a prize-tier lookup, not ticket validation.
Matching 3 main numbers without the Bonus Ball wins £10.
Always validate a potentially winning ticket with The Health Lottery. This lookup follows the current published Big Win prize table.
The same number of main matches can produce a very different prize
The Bonus Ball is drawn separately after the five main winning numbers. It does not help you reach Match 5, but at several lower tiers it can substantially increase the prize.
Match the Bonus Ball as well and the prize jumps to £10,000.
The Bonus Ball turns a £10 Match 3 into £50.
Adding the Bonus Ball changes the outcome from a free ticket to cash.
How the £100,000 Health Lottery Superdraw works
Every £1 Big Win ticket bought for a Wednesday or Saturday draw is automatically entered into a second, separate five-number draw using the same five numbers on your ticket. There is no extra entry fee.
Match all five in the separate Superdraw
The published chance of matching all five Superdraw numbers is 1 in 2,118,760. There are no lower Superdraw prize tiers: anything short of five matches does not win a Superdraw prize.
One useful way to think about it: on Wednesday and Saturday a £1 line gives you two separate five-number draws — the normal Big Win and the free Superdraw. MLL calculates the chance of matching all five in at least one of those two draws at roughly 1 in 1.06 million.
If more than one player matches all five Superdraw numbers, the prize is divided between the Match 5 winners. The Health Lottery's terms describe the free-draw prize as at least £100,000; the current advertised Superdraw is £100,000.
