The UK and US Powerball jackpot figures are not directly comparable, even though they relate to the same draw and prize pool. The US headline is advertised in dollars before tax, and US winners can choose either a lump-sum cash option or a 30-year annuity. UK winners do not get that cash-option choice: the advertised UK jackpot is presented as a post-tax value and the prize is paid as a 30-year annuity.
That is why US coverage can show a much larger dollar headline for the same draw. It is not a discrepancy in the draw itself; the currency, tax treatment and payment terms are different. For a deeper look at the payment structure, see our UK Powerball what-if scenarios.
About this figure: This page shows the current UK-facing advertised Powerball jackpot from MLL's stored lottery data. UK Powerball jackpot prizes are presented on the UK product's payment terms rather than as a simple conversion of the U.S. cash option. If there is a discrepancy, official National Lottery information takes precedence. National Lottery →
