Set for Life Australia timeline
The important dates are not just trivia — they tell us which historical draws can be compared directly.
Set for Life launches across Australia
The game introduced a national daily lottery built around a Division 1 prize of $20,000 a month for 20 years. It was promoted as Australia’s first national lottery game drawn every night of the week.
The game changes from 8-from-37 to 7-from-44
The current number format begins. Division 2 also changes to $5,000 a month for 12 months. This date is the clean boundary for modern number-frequency analysis.
The 7-from-44 era builds its own history
Every daily draw adds seven winning numbers and two supplementary numbers to a directly comparable modern dataset. Results from the old 8-from-37 format should not be mixed into a 1–44 frequency chart.
Upfront payments are added to Divisions 1 and 2
Subject to the published regulatory timetable, Division 1 gains $200,000 upfront and Division 2 gains $20,000 upfront. The 7-from-44 matrix and published odds remain unchanged, so the number-statistics era continues without a matrix break.

Historical frequency is descriptive, not predictive
A number can appear more often than another over a finite run of draws without becoming more likely in the next independent draw. Frequency tables tell us what happened; they do not change the probability of a valid future combination.
For Australian Set for Life, the most important statistical discipline is era separation. A 1–37 result from the old game should not be counted as though it came from today’s 1–44 pool.
Main winning numbers and supplementary numbers should also be analysed separately because they play different roles in the prize structure.
Lotterywest publishes official Set for Life results and provides a downloadable past-results dataset through its frequency-chart area. These are useful primary references when checking or rebuilding historical statistics.
