Saturday Lotto is one national Australian draw, but the name printed on the ticket depends on where you play. The same Saturday draw is commonly sold as TattsLotto in Victoria and Tasmania, Gold Lotto in Queensland, Saturday X Lotto in South Australia and the Northern Territory, and Saturday Lotto in New South Wales, the ACT and Western Australia.

Queensland, New South Wales, the ACT, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and the Northern Territory use the lottery brands available through The Lott. Western Australia is served separately by Lotterywest. The winning numbers are national, but practical details such as sales cut-offs, online accounts, minimum age and prize claims depend on the operator and jurisdiction.

How Saturday Lotto works

A standard Saturday Lotto game contains six selected numbers from 1 to 45. In the draw, six winning numbers are drawn from the same 45-number field and then two supplementary numbers are drawn.

Division 1 requires all six winning numbers in the same game. Lower divisions use different combinations of winning and supplementary numbers, so the two supplementary numbers can still matter even though players do not choose a separate supplementary selection.

You can choose your own numbers or use an official randomly generated QuickPick or Slikpik entry. A valid individual number combination has the same chance of being drawn regardless of how the numbers were selected.

The regular Saturday draw uses a prize pool.

The standard Division 1 pool is commonly advertised at an estimated $6 million. If more than one entry wins Division 1, that pool is shared between the winning entries.

Saturday draw time and ticket cut-offs

Saturday Lotto is a Saturday-night draw. The Lott currently publishes a 7:30pm AEST draw close for its jurisdictions, while Lotterywest currently lists a 6:00pm AWST Saturday close in Western Australia.

Those times are quoted in different time zones. That matters particularly during daylight-saving months, so players entering close to the deadline should use the time published by the operator shown on their ticket or account rather than converting from another state's clock.

Why Saturday Lotto has different names

Saturday Lotto, TattsLotto, Gold Lotto and Saturday X Lotto are not four separate Saturday draws. They are regional names used for the same national game. The six winning numbers and two supplementary numbers are shared nationally.

The branding reflects the historical state lottery businesses and the operator route through which the ticket is sold. That is why a Victorian player may talk about TattsLotto while a Queensland player refers to Gold Lotto, even though both are checking the same Saturday winning numbers.

The operator still matters for practical issues such as ticket deadlines, account rules and prize claims. For a state-by-state explanation of the naming, use the dedicated Saturday Lotto regional names guide.

Supplementary numbers and the lower prize divisions

Two supplementary numbers are drawn after the six main winning numbers. They do not form part of the six-number Division 1 match, but they are used when determining some lower prize divisions.

This is why checking only the six main numbers can miss a smaller prize. A complete ticket check should compare the full line against both the six winning numbers and the two supplementary numbers shown in the official result.

Saturday Lotto Superdraws and Megadraws

Not every Saturday has the same advertised Division 1 pool. Special Saturday events can offer much larger pools than the regular draw, including Superdraws and Megadraws promoted at tens of millions of dollars.

The advertised figure remains a Division 1 prize pool rather than a guaranteed single-winner payment. If several entries match all six winning numbers, the pool is divided between them.

The game matrix itself remains important when comparing different advertised events: a larger pool does not change the probability of one valid six-number combination matching all six winning numbers.

Saturday Lotto tickets, tax and claiming a win

In The Lott jurisdictions, official entries can be bought through participating retailers and eligible online channels. Western Australian entries are sold through Lotterywest retailers and its online services. Account eligibility, identity checks and minimum playing age follow the relevant jurisdiction.

Ordinary Australian lottery prizes generally do not need to be declared as income, although interest and investment income generated after a win can be taxable. Prize-claim procedures also differ depending on the state, the amount won and whether the ticket was bought online, registered to an account or held as an unregistered paper ticket.

Saturday Lotto FAQs

When is Saturday Lotto drawn?

Saturday Lotto is drawn every Saturday. The Lott currently closes entries at 7:30pm AEST in its jurisdictions, while Lotterywest lists a 6:00pm AWST Saturday close for Western Australia.

How many numbers do you need for Saturday Lotto?

A standard game uses six selected numbers from 1 to 45. Six winning numbers and two supplementary numbers are drawn. Division 1 requires all six winning numbers in the same game.

What are the odds of winning Saturday Lotto Division 1?

The official Division 1 odds are 1 in 8,145,060 for one standard game.

Are TattsLotto, Gold Lotto and Saturday X Lotto the same game?

Yes. They are regional names for the same national Saturday draw. The branding varies by jurisdiction, while the winning numbers and game format are shared.

What do the supplementary numbers do?

The two supplementary numbers help determine some of the lower prize divisions. They are drawn after the six main winning numbers and are not separate numbers that a player chooses on a standard entry.

What happens if more than one entry wins Division 1?

The advertised Division 1 pool is shared between the winning Division 1 entries. The headline pool therefore should not automatically be read as the amount one winning ticket would receive.

Are Saturday Lotto winnings taxed in Australia?

Ordinary Australian lottery prizes generally do not need to be declared as income. Income generated after the win, such as bank interest or investment returns, can still have tax consequences.
